The Aquinas Women’s and Men’s Golf squads had a tremendous weekend, dominating the AQ Fall Invitational. Four golfers from the women’s team placed at the Invitational, with several top performances. They finished 1st out of 7 teams and had a team score of 334 to secure the victory.
University Michigan Dearborn finished not far behind in 2nd place, with Cleary University finishing in 3rd place. Aquinas was led by Senior Alexandra Le, shooting a remarkable 82 (+10). Le ended in 2nd place, totaling 9 pars in a magnificent outing on her home course.
Kennedy Stoll, Calli O’Neal, and Molly Clark all finished top 5, with impressive scores that paved Aquinas to victory.
The Men’s team also had an impressive turnout, finishing 2nd out of 10 teams, with a team score of 309. AQ fell just short of first place winner Grand Rapids Community College, who finished with a final score of 307. This tightly contended contest was quite the battle, as the Saints had a great showing.
Senior James Murray had an excellent day, tying for second place overall, while shooting 73 (+1). Overall, the Saints had four golfers finish in the top-15 out of 64 golfers, which was good enough for a strong second place finish.
Both of these teams will be competing together again at the Cleary University Fall Invitational on September 23rd on the Mystic Creek golf course.
