Story by Mark Musgrave III, Sports Editor

A surprise to no one, sophomore center Dylan Rumpke is tearing it up for Aquinas Men’s Hockey this year. The Columbus, Ohio native is arguably the best player for the 7-5 Saints. Partway through this season, Rumpke has already surpassed his freshman stat line in every category. His last season stat line of four goals on four assists and eight points is almost a third of his 2022-23 stat line.

The alternate captain leads the team in the following statistics:

Goals: 12

Points: 23

Shots: 20

Points Per Game: 6

And he ties the team lead in the following statistics:

Assists: 11

Short-Handed Goals: 1

In the month of October alone, he was the WHAC player of the week for the first and second time in his career. He and fellow teammate goalie Michael Allman shared the honors in both weeks of October 10 and October 31 as offensive and defensive Players Of The Week. In those weeks, Rumpke had his best stat lines on the season with four goals on four shots and six assists in the two-game set versus Rochester and four goals on four shots and two assists in his second week with the award versus Purdue Northwest. Three goals in Game 2 gave him the hat trick.

You can see Dylan Rumpke and the rest of your Men’s Hockey Saints this Friday, Nov. 11 vs Concordia at home in Southside Ice Arena. They will then travel to play Concordia again Saturday Nov, 12 on the road, at Arctic Edge. Concordia is ranked 31st in the ACHA Divison 1 Rankings and 5th in the WHAC behind your 4th-ranked Aquinas Saints ranked 27th in the Division 1 ACHA Rankings. Go Saints!
