Traveling over 1000 miles to California the Women’s volleyball team played some competitive matches on the west coast. These California Girls were undeniably good, however, our Saints stuck right in there with them. Playing two days in a row, this team tried out many different lineups to let all faces new and old get a chance on the court. Returning back home, these girls held a winning record of 3-2 defeating teams such as: Hope International, La Sierra, and The Master’s. Continuing the following weekend, the ladies had three postponed home games due to weather, but also two away games at which has started this teams winning streak of three games now. They defeated both William Woods and Olivet Nazarene both in four set matches, all with tight scores. They were able to show their strength and will power within these games to prove that they are not going to be going down easy. With more games to come they’re looking to have a strong season ahead. Lydia Harper, a junior transfer from Miami Ohio, expresses her excitement for the season, saying, “I’m super excited to see how we can do in conference!” Last year, the women’s team landed in roughly the middle of the conference, however, this year has quite a few new faces looking to make a huge impact. With the addition of ten new freshmen, along with two transfers, they have been able to make a huge impact for this team right away. They hold a current record of 5-2, and with a strong start, it will be exciting to see how the girls will compete against the teams within our conference. Within our conference we have multiple teams receiving national votes, showing us, it won’t be easy. Lydia continues talking about the team saying, “We all are super supportive of each other and are each other’s biggest fans!” This new roster of 27 girls offers a lot of competition, a lot of excitement and a lot of good development for the volleyball program. The energy of the team went up tremendously and the spirit is never gone. These girls are all in together to continue succeeding and growing. The team brings some exciting new addictions, looking to become a dangerous force within the WHAC.
