In years past, orientation has been tedious with many freshman complaints. We all know someone who skipped or even slept through an event. This year, according to reports from Orientation Leader Kaitlyn Santaguida, leader of team Magenta, the freshman loved the theme this year: The Aquinas Race, based on the hit TV reality series “The Amazing Race”. Santaguida recalled that “freshmen were engaged and excited” with all of the events, and every morning they woke up refreshed and “ready to go”! This is highly encouraging news, and means that orientation will be even more fun for the next incoming class.
The fun did not stop after orientation either. Welcome week was a huge success! How could it not be after all, when it was kicked off with free donuts in the lobby of the Academic Building, and the very same day offered free ice cream from the local Furniture City Creamery catering truck? It seemed many students were less interested in the axe throwing which was also present last Monday night, however that did not stop several people from trying it! The Aquinas Programming Board deserves a huge thank you for all of the hard work they did planning such a fun event to commemorate the first day of classes. Welcome week was filled with so many cool activities including the Chalk Fight, the Front Yard Party, a seminar discussing the Saint’s 90 history, and a volleyball tournament, just to name a few. Hopefully if you are reading this, it means you have already checked out the News section of The Saint and are pumped about attending future on campus events!
