Story by Laura Kuzmicz

The official Aquinas Music Club has a brand new president! Lawrence Young was just elected by all students of the music department and he has many new ideas and plans on where the club is headed and new exciting activities musical students can take part in! I asked him questions to elaborate:

What is the music club? What are meetings like and what activities do people take part in?

The Music Club is a club that promotes anything music inside and outside of Aquinas College and is welcome to both musical and non-musical students/faculty. The Music Club in the past year has met once a month, with activities to do as members bring ideas for the club’s growth going forward.

As president, what are your priorities for this group and your plans for running the music club?

As the newly elected music club president, my priorities for the group are pretty straightforward, to promote anything musical and to welcome all who would like to be included. Some of the plans I’m striving for specifically are possible trips to see the Grand Rapids Symphony and a talent show on campus inclusive of all acts of talent. Other plans are smaller things to bring everyone together, like a movie night.

What are some new opportunities for Music Club newcomers?

For all the newcomers to the Music Club, this is 100% inclusive and doesn’t require any musical knowledge. Being a part of the Music Club allows me to learn more about music and to get an outside look at the music in the community outside of campus.

What are your plans regarding music and musical performance?

My plans for this group are to not only grow as a club but also to bring more people to the crowds. We want to open up the opportunity for everyone to attend concerts, whether band, strings, or choir.

The music club is open and free to everyone! Come and join them to learn new musical techniques, philosophy, and ideas, enjoy interactive activities, and make new friends. Lawrence and others will be excited to meet you!
