Throughout this season, the Women’s Volleyball Team has been passing through teams easier than a free ball, winning sixteen out of twenty conference matches this season. With multiple sweeps over teams, the brooms started to wear out. Allowing less than half of their conference games took a set from these girls.

From the beginning of conference play, the Women’s Volleyball team had made it clear that they’d ‘kill’ it this season! Winning the first five conference matches they had only allowed Siena Heights to win a set against them. This also meant they had won four clean matches beating Rochester, Lourdes, Cornerstone, and University of Northern Ohio (UNOH). After the tough loss against Indiana Tech, these girls aced the next nine games winning each one, along with completely clearing four of the matches. This run consisted of beating seven different conference teams and two matches outside of the conference. Towards the end of the season, however, they lost some upsetting games such as losses against Dearborn and Madonna. Although the girls had these tough losses, it didn’t hold them back from their number 2 ranking within the conference.

In the postseason, this women’s team fought their quarterfinals match against the rival school of Cornerstone University. This matchup was a hard fought game, however, after only dropping one set to Cornerstone, the women’s team came up on top with the win allowing them to move forward against another fierce competitor. The semifinals match was up against Siena Heights who had been a tough team this season with a fifteen to five conference record. As well as Cornerstone, however, this team also lost against our women’s team in only four sets. Which granted not only a trip to Indiana for conference finals, but a remaining spot for nationals.

After losing a tough 3 set match against Indiana Tech this team was off to Oregon to play their first match of nationals. After being faced up against nationally ranked seven, Corban, the women’s team was blocked from moving forward. This though led to an exciting new beginning for this team with still young players returning along with an impressive season record 31-9!

Along with this, multiple players were named as First Team All Conference, that being Abbi Perkins, Samee Teachworth and Lydia Harper. As well as Lauren Chioini being named in the All Freshman Team. Thank you for an amazing season Saints!
