This season, both the Men’s and the Women’s teams had some very successful meets. Running past most competitions the Men’s team successfully placed top 10 within all of their season meets and the women’s team battled between placing 2nd or not placing within the top 10.
Throughout this season the Men’s team ran away with success. They started the season in Indiana where they ran their first meet. This was a huge first meet for our Men’s team at which they ended up placing 2nd out of 15 different teams competing. After the first meet though, it didn’t stop there, the Men’s team continued to dust coming up competition. The next three meets following they pulled off a top 5 placement for each one. Through a third-place finish at the GRCC Raider Invite, along with a fifth-place finish in Kentucky at the Greater Louisville Classic, then a fourth-place team finish at the Jayhawk Invite. This team then went on to win the WHAC Conference meet placing first of eleven teams at the tournament. This also led to the Men’s Cross Country team running across the country to Fort Vancouver, Washington to compete in the national meet. At nationals, the team ended their season landing in the middle of the pack. With a 19th-place finish out of thirty-six teams, they ended their season with a trip to nationals and an exciting conference championship!
The Women’s team also had an exciting season starting out. For the first meet at the GRCC Raider Invite, they took 2nd out of 13 teams. This started the season for this team, but through their next three meets they tended to place all over the place finishing nearly last within the Louisville Classic, but bouncing back to place 2nd again in the Jayhawk Invite. Lastly, they finished roughly in the middle of the pack for the Great Lakes Challenge. This didn’t end their season, however, they went off to conference and finished 2nd at the WHAC conference final. Although the team didn’t make nationals, sophomore Madison Rempalski was able to make nationals individually. She went off to place 185 with a time of 24:23 to finish out the season for the Women’s Cross Cross team.
