Aquinas was hit by a heavy round of snow on the first week back from break. Trees are frozen and the ground is nearly solid. Aquinas students are advised to be careful walking.
Sports athletes came back the week before classes began. Many of them experienced hardships getting to and from practices after the storm hit. Some teams called off practices near the end of the week.
A large branch fell in the Plymouth lot Saturday night. It blocked the second entrance to the Circle Theatre lot, falling directly from one side of the sidewalk to the other. Not only that, but cars experienced significant snow pile-ups through Sunday night, with many cars looking twice their size with the amount of snow that stuck to the top of them.
A winter weather advisory was put out between Friday and Saturday and cars were told to keep off the roads. The storm that passed through put temperatures near zero and brought in inches of fluffy, powdery snow. Businesses closed early Friday and opened late Saturday.

Some tips to keep warm while on Aquinas campus: always keep mittens or gloves, a coat, and warm clothing on you at all times. Wearing gloves can keep frostbite away, especially when clearing snow off your car. Not only that, but a car may not be necessary if a student uses the many resources surrounding campus, such as walking to Family Fare for groceries or walking to the two bus stops on either side of campus to use the bus system.
As the temperatures get colder, make sure to take care of your plants and animals alike. The windows will be colder than the rest of the room, so consider moving the location of your sensitive belongings to someplace closer to the center of your room. Not only that, but plants will need more warmth, so consider using a heat lamp if necessary, and use less water since most plants will be going dormant during this time.
Snowplows have been doing an excellent job of keeping the sidewalks and streets clear for Saints, even having the foresight to put salt down the day before the storm and getting out on the roads extra early to beat the falling snow during the day. Make sure to give them room to work.
Stay safe, Saints! Warmth comes in numbers, so make sure to look out for each other as well as the falling snow.
