Story by News Columnist Zoebelle Bean

It is now the fourth week of classes and Aquinas Campus is back up and running. Despite the significant amount of snow received over the past week, the rain has melted most of the sidewalks and students are finding the campus easier to walk. Several events have already happened to bring students back together from over the break, including a tater-tot bar, grocery store bingo, and a women’s health and advocacy talk with coloring pages at the Moose.

Thomas Aquinas week took place Sunday, January 28th through Friday, February 3rd. It featured many fun activities, beginning with the Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas during Sunday mass at 7pm with incense, followed by a Monty Python showing in Donelly at 8pm. Tuesday held the first Dominican Heritage Series talk, an event that will continue through the year with many practicing Dominicans coming to the campus to talk about their experiences. Wednesday featured an open house at the Bukowski center from 9am-4pm as well as Vespers, or evening prayer, and a meditation circle from 7pm into the night. Thursday was an important day because there was a community photo taken on the front steps of AB at 12:15, and the first few participants received a complimentary beanie. Finally, the week wrapped up on Friday with the Christian Anderson Band in the Wege Ballroom at 8pm. The week was packed with opportunities for growth and friendship.

Not only that, but now there’s a German block class happening, which is the first of the foreign language classes to enter the block schedule. It consists of six weeks of block-style classes and covers both 101 and 102 courses.

The Moose is training new baristas during the first part of this year, and has undergone several short closings throughout the day to allow for training to take place. To follow future changes on this, follow Aquinas dining on Instagram.

Thomas Aquinas Week, as well as the vast number of events that have already taken place and the recent changes to class opportunities, have helped the campus to unite after the long winter break and find commonality after being away for so long. Happy birthday, Thomas Aquinas and happy Spring semester, AQ!
