The Aquinas Women’s Dance team starting out this season has made a clear notice that they are coming back just as strong as where they ended last year. After a fantastic season last year the Women’s Dance team took home five 1st place wins last year including the WHAC Conference final. The dance team also had 5 members placed within the All Conference Teams along with Junior Emma Daling winning WHAC Conference Dancer of the Year. They had a best season score last year of 87.27 and placed 2nd in Daytona Florida with a score of 88.10 at the NDA College Nationals.
Beginning this season, these AQ Saints took a trip to St. Louis, Missouri to compete at a competition held by Missouri Baptist. This competition wasn’t an ordinary competition, instead this team decided to set a record for the highest ever score in program history for the first competition. Scoring with an average score of 86.5 the women’s team received an 89.9 and a 90.2 from two judges, proving that they are going to be coming into this season on a mission to make it back to nationals and to compete against the top teams in the nation.
This performance in St. Louis landed them only a 2nd place finish which brought them back to Livonia, Michigan at Madonna University to land their first win this season. The saints were able to compete against conference rivals such as: Madonna and Lourdes. After scoring an 80.3 the women’s team feels good with how they competed and are ready to get back to practice to start focusing up for the next competition.
After 4 very successful seasons under Coach Ashley Kaman, these AQ Saints are excited to see where the rest of the season will lead them. Their next competition takes place at the University of Saint Francis on February 24th. Followed by a virtual competition against Campbellsville at home on the 25th of February.
Looking forward to the season, it will be interesting to watch how this team takes down some tough competition and fights their way back for a chance at their 5th conference win in a row. By seasons end, AQ Dance will be at NDA Nationals to compete and defeat some of the top teams in the NAIA.
