On a chilly November night, at 5 p.m., the doors of Wege Dining Hall opened up their doors to the students of Aquinas College for the annual Wege Thanksgiving meal.
Students were greeted by the smells of turkey and ham. All were invited and welcome to come, even the students who did not have a meal plan. Several at Aquinas College had many good things to say about the food and atmosphere of the event. Sophomore Ryan Maddock said, “These aren’t brussel sprouts, these are bussin’ sprouts,” and “Honestly the most bussin’ sprouts I’ve ever had in my mouth.”
Freshman John Petty also had high praise for the event and staff that made Wege Thanksgiving possible and said, “It was a most spectacularly scrumptious, culinary extravaganza!”
However, some criticism was made known. Junior Reign Lawson said, “The gravy was very liquidy and every year they run out of the two pies everyone wants and always expect people to want to eat pecan pie. Overall though, you’ve got to love Wege Thanksgiving.”
Students were also encouraged to enter a raffle for either a pair of Beats Studio Pro Wireless Headphones or an Owala Free Sip Water Bottle. This attracted many students to stay and listen for the winners of these items. Once the winners were announced however, the Dining Hall cleared and those just arriving were able to secure a table and dish up.
