Zoebelle Bean: Give us some insights into your life, including your major and minor, and tell us what you like to do in your free time?
Emily Klein: I am an accounting major with a Spanish minor. I’m actually planning on going potentially five years for a professional accounting degree as well. In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, camping, spending time outside, going to the beach, hanging out with my friends and spending time with my family. Can’t forget my family. Them, most of all.
Bean: Why were you interested in this position and how do you feel about it now?
Klein: It’s a leadership position, and it’ll allow me to grow more in faith and learn how to be a role model to others. I was interested in serving others and pursuing this through Campus Ministry, since I was already involved with retreats and I wanted to go further with my leadership skills. Right now, it’s not overwhelming and very manageable. I’m excited to see where the semester takes me and excited to see where we all go as a faith community together.
Bean: What are some of your plans for your position this semester and how will you approach your new role?
Klein: I want to grow in my own faith because actions speak louder than words. As Julie Bevins says, joy attracts people and living a joyous life gives other people hope and incentive. I aim to live my best Christian life and work on being a disciple to be a light to others.
Bean: What does the role of a social media and outreach coordinator entail?
Klein: I work a lot with coming up with graphics and designing them, as well as posting it and giving it to instagram or facebook for others to see to advertise various events. This also includes planning Campus Ministry events and after-Mass socials.
Bean: Is there anything you’re apprehensive about and how will you address these challenges?
Klein: It seems kind of daunting going into it. In the past, peer ministers seemed to feel as if they were put on a pedestal, but getting out of that mindset is okay, and making mistakes is okay. I want to break the stigma to make others feel more comfortable. I’m not worried about managing my duties and I feel prepared to take on this new chapter.
Bean: Any last words for the audience?
Klein: God loves you! And you’re always welcome here.
