On Monday, April 14, 2025 the Center for Sustainability celebrated 20 years as a department on campus. Stationed in Wege Mall, Sustainability Advocates, Jessica Bowen, Hannah Bechtold and Ryan Wendt were asking students to write down why they were thankful for the earth.

They were also giving away pencils with seeds in the base (to be planted after using them for writing) and various environmentally friendly stickers. Due to the wind, one of the planned activities had to be canceled. Students were however encouraged to participate in the Forest Quote Hunt. The scavenger hunt was designed by the Center for Sustainability, which placed 10 placards with environmentally themed quotes around the natural growth areas of campus.

“I had a lot of fun,” said sophomore Matthew Sloan. “The real scavenger hunt was the friends we made along the way.”

All 10 quotes were not easy to find, and students were racing against both the clock and other students. The top 4 finishers will win a gift card provided by the Center for Sustainability. Winners will be notified via email. To win, students needed to find the most quotes in the least amount of time,.  this was all being tracked by the sign in and out sheet at the start and end point of the hunt.
