The Ann Arbor Foundation is a global non-profit organization dedicated to planting trees since its founding in 1972 and in that time has planted more than half a billion trees across many different nation-states. Aquinas College has been titled Tree Campus of Higher Education for the eighth time.
“Trees have the power to inspire learning and improve well-being,” Michelle Saulnier, vice president of programs at the Arbor Day Foundation, wrote in a news release. “By growing campus green spaces, forward-thinking higher education leaders like Aquinas College are cultivating vibrant learning communities that also benefit the greater environment.”
Aquinas College has over 95 different species of trees on its campus grounds, 43 of them are native to the state of Michigan. To further awareness, Aquinas offers free 50 minute tree tours .and a “Tree of the Year” Competition that is also hosted in the autumn.

No matter what season, the foliage filled campus is named “Tree Campus” for another year. “When looking at other campuses especially for higher education, I have found no other school like Aquinas,” said Aquinas junior Ethan Tennant, “The fact that we are so close to the city, doubles its value of the campus.”
