September 25 Senate Minutes

By: Aiden Butler, Aquinas Reporter

On  Sept. 25, the Student Senate gathered for their inaugural meeting for the 2025-2026 school year. The meeting promptly began at twelve o’clock.

The first order of business was e-board and advisor reports. With this being the first meeting of the year, there was minimal information to discuss. The e-board discussed scheduling headshots for the senators, purchasing senate apparel, and RSO budget allocation.

Senators then received their liaison assignments for the semester. Senators were notified of their primary point of contact for their assigned liaison. The body was then given time to meet with their fellow senator(s) who were assigned to the same liaison.

The majority of the session revolved around a presentation from the Aquinas Chemistry Society (ACS). The ACS advocated for increased funding from the Student Senate so they would be able to attend the annual American Chemical Society meeting in Atlanta, from March 22-26. The conference, which Aquinas has attended for the last five years, helps students to develop professionally and academically through presenting their work, networking with like-minded individuals, and acquiring internship offers. The senate body continued to discuss this topic in a session closed to the public, which concluded the first senate meeting of the year.
