The Moose announced their fall specials on Sept. 23. The menu consists of a familiar item from last year’s menu, the Stars Hollow, along with some fresh new additions: the Apple Butter Latte, the Cinnamon Honey Lemonade and the Chai Cheer Shake. Students have had two weeks to try the festive drinks, and most of them have a favorite picked out.
In an Instagram poll of about 200 students asking for their favorite new fall drink, 53 percent voted for the Stars Hollow, 22 percent for the Honey Butter Latte, 16 percent for the Cinnamon Honey Lemonade and 9 percent for the Chai Cheer Shake.
The Stars Hollow, the one repeat from last year, remains a fan favorite. The drink consists of an iced chai latte base with a pumpkin cold foam to top it off. Students compare the pumpkin flavored chai to similar renditions such as the Chumpkin from Biggby and the Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam Chai from Starbucks.
“My favorite drink is Stars Hollow because Chumpkins are my absolute favorite,” senior Tess Foster said. “I’d say it’s very similar, but even better since we can use our flex cash on it.”
Another fan of the Stars Hollow attributes its appeal to its festive flavor. The pumpkin cold foam blends with the spice of the chai to create a pumpkin pie-like taste. “My favorite drink was the Stars Hollow because it tasted like fall in a cup and was so good to begin the fall season,” freshman Nora McGrew said.

The Apple Butter Latte, which came in at second in the poll, received rave reviews as well. The drink consists of apple butter syrup, caramel, espresso and milk. The drink can be ordered either hot or cold, making it stand apart from the Stars Hollow which can only be served cold due to the cold foam. Sophomore Kelwin Mazariegos thought it stood out from the others due to its bold apple flavor. “It’s so good, and the flavors just hit different than any other drink served at The Moose,” Mazariegos said.
The Cinnamon Honey Lemonade did not create as much buzz as the Stars Hollow and the Apple Butter Latte, but the drink still has its fanbase.
Last and literally least, the Chai Cheer Shake had the lowest ranking when standing against the other drinks. The drink is a blend of chai and cherries, and it stands out as being the only dessert beverage on the new menu. As such, it is not a commonly ordered drink in comparison to a chai or latte.

The new fall menu at The Moose brought back a favorite and also introduced new drinks that seem to have gained a liking, causing students to wonder if any of these will make a reappearance next fall.
