Both golf teams are finishing their fall season with promising results in recent events. The women’s team captured a team victory at the Cleary Invite while the men’s team finished tied for fifth place.

The women’s team put together back-to-back top five finishes with their victory at the Cleary Invitational and a fourth place finish at the WHAC Fall Preview.

“The women have played great during the fall season,” head coach Matt Denhartigh said.

At the Cleary Invitational the Saints were led by junior Maddie Schense who finished tied for fifth individually. She was backed by top twenty finishes from Jayda Kerns, Quinn Clement and Ava Clark who secured the first place finish. A week later the Women’s golf team would achieve another strong finish when they placed fourth as a team at the WHAC Fall Preview.

“We had a great performance at the WHAC Preview and I feel that our ability to motivate each other and promote competition within the team has pushed us to be the best golfers we can be,” junior Jayda Kerns said. Kerns led the team with a tied 12th individual finish at the WHAC Preview with Maddie Schense and Zoey Quinn tying for 17th.

“This season has really allowed us to grow our team chemistry and I’m confident saying that I only see our team getting better and better,” Kerns said.

The men’s team is still looking for a solid team result, but that has not been without strong play. “The men have played well individually, but we haven’t been able to have everyone put a solid round together at the same time,” Coach Denhartigh said. At the Lourdes Invitational,  senior McCoy Denhartigh led the Saints with a nine shots over par round.

The men’s team had their best team finish at the Cleary Invitational when senior Anthony Lalomia led them to a fifth place finish. Lalomia finished tied for fifth individually while Benjamin Holloway and Austin Pitsch finished tied for 14th. Pitsch would continue his strong form with a tied 11th finish at the WHAC Fall Preview. “We haven’t played our best team golf yet this season,” Anthony Lalomia said, “But we are looking forward to finishing the fall at Rock Hollow.”

Both the women’s and men’s teams finish their fall season Oct. 24 and 25 at the Holy Cross Fall Invite held at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Indiana.
