On Oct. 23, the Student Senate met in Nellie’s Corner for their third annual meeting of the year.

The meeting officially began a few minutes after noon at 12:02. Chair Grant Bricking and Vice Chair Kate Kramm were absent from the meeting. Due to this, Budget Director Michaela Faith led the invocation, and Secretary Michaela Faith was interim Chair.

Bricking and Kramm had no pressing announcements to be discussed in their absence. Interim Chair and Secretary Michaela Faith briefly shared an update that Student Senate apparel had officially been ordered. Budget Director Lucas Baker provided an update on the Trunk or Treat that was scheduled for Oct. 24. Academic Affairs Director Taylor Moss informed the body of her meeting with Terry Keller. Advisor Brigid Avery had no updates, and ceded her time to the President of Aquinas College, Sister Maureen Geary.

The attendance of Sister Maureen Geary allowed both herself and Student Senate to express any concerts. Geary asked how Student Senate itself works and asked the senate body if they had any plans to involve commuter students on campus. This ultimately led to a conversation in regard to Moose hours. The new, limited hours continue to be a source of concern for the student body echoed by Senate, as a major piece of the Aquinas community has decreased in popularity and foot traffic. This lengthy discussion between the President and the senate body ended with a lighthearted Q&A for Geary, asking her how she has enjoyed her time as President so far, what her background is, and other related topics.

The final order of business was again further discussion of the Aquinas Chemistry Society and their trip to the annual American Chemical Society meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. As with the previous updates, information on this topic area is not currently disclosable to the general Aquinas student body.
