On Nov. 23, the Student Senate met in Nellie’s Corner for their third annual meeting of the year.

The meeting was called to order at 12:01. To begin, the senate welcomed Bob Wisler, Chief Information Officer at Aquinas, to the meeting. His purpose was to ensure the senate knows who to reach out to if there are any technical issues on campus. This discussion opened up the senate body discussing a variety of changes they would like to see at Aquinas College. In order to create a further sense of community on campus, the body recommended that Aquinas look into purchasing Youtube TV or NFL Sunday Ticket so that students could gather around campus together to watch sports. The senate also recommended to Wisler to adapt the way students register for classes. The primary concern was the midnight opening slate is difficult for student-athletes who need to wake up early for practice.

With the discussion between the senate and Wisler concluded, other immediate concerns were briefly examined. Discussion ranged from high school cross country meets on campus, to ticketing for parking violations, to the success of Saint Slam.

With the end of the discussion of the immediate concerns, executive board and advisor reports were next on the agenda. Chair Grant Bricking reminded the body of the senate tree lighting event on Dec. 2, and ran through logistics of said event. Vice Chair Kate Kramm was happy to announce the arrival of senate apparel, which the body received following the conclusion of the meeting. Budget Director Lucas Baker reminded the body of the budget writing training on Nov.16 for student RSO treasurers.

The final order of business was further discussion of the budget for the Aquinas Chemistry Society and their trip to the annual American Chemical Society meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. As with the previous updates, information on this topic area is not currently disclosable to the general Aquinas student body.

With all business and talking points exhausted, the meeting adjourned at 12:57.
