For the second year in a row, the Aquinas College Nursing Program Graduates of the University Detroit Mercy (UDM) have had a 100% pass rate for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). This test is required for students to obtain the license to practice nursing professionally.

Aquinas College partners with the University of Detroit Mercy to provide a liberal arts education alongside a nursing program taught by UDM faculty in Grand Rapids. Additionally, Aquinas works closely with Trinity Health to give students an opportunity for hands-on clinical experience. The flawless pass rate from Aquinas students the past two years demonstrates the strength of the program and its capability to equip students for the field.
“It feels good knowing that the past graduates have passed the NCLEX,” said nursing major Stephanie Garcia. “It shows the program is really preparing us for the exam.”
The UDM program is unique, as it offers students direct-admission into the nursing program, rather than waiting two years to compete for a spot. This allows students to start their first year knowing they are a nursing student.
In a press release, Sunzanne Keep, Ph.D, Prelicensure BSN Site Program Director, described the program as “rigorous,” but said that “it brings us great joy and satisfaction to witness the nursing students evolve from freshmen to confidently leading their final immersion clinical experience, fully prepared for their nursing roles.”
