The first Aquinas College women’s basketball home game was Monday, Oct. 28, 2019. They played Indiana Wesleyan University at 7:00 p.m., in the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center.
As the Aquinas team was warming up before the game, they appeared excited and nervous. It was their first home game, and the second game this season. The Aquinas College women’s basketball team has a lot of new faces this year. They have 12 freshmen, five sophomores, three juniors and two seniors. The captain of the team, Camaryia Williams talked a lot about how excited she was to be back on the court.
“It’s okay to be nervous, as long as you go out and play your best,” said Williams.
The five players who started off the game were senior guard Keeley Hinton, sophomore guard Daz’sha Day, senior guard Camaryia Williams, junior center Ally Fredrickson and freshman guard Jayda Smith.
Aquinas started the game out rough, but after getting through some nerves and getting some subs in, the game started to pick up. They ended the first half of the game just behind Indiana Wesleyan with a score of 23 to 27.
The team lost 54-66, but were still laughing and having fun. Even though they lost they still have more games to improve. Come support the Aquinas College Women’s Basketball team in their upcoming games. The next home game is Saturday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. facing IU-Northwest.
