The Athletic Director position is open on Aquinas Campus and four finalists will be welcomed at the Wege Ballroom this week in anticipation of finding a final candidate for the position.
On April 6, 2024, at 5 a.m., an email was sent out to the Aquinas College community, advertising the four finalists and their presentation times. Similar to the email regarding Provost finalists, these candidates will present their views on the position of Athletic Director and what they would bring to the role should they be chosen and hired.
The presentations will be taking place on Monday, April 8, Tuesday, April 9, Thursday, April 11, and Friday, April 12. Each presentation will take approximately 45 minutes, beginning at 1 p.m. and ending around 1:45 p.m. in the Wege Ballroom. Additionally, a survey will be sent out the day of the presentation to question the community on how they view the candidate of the day.
This is an ample opportunity for the Aquinas College community to give their opinion and chip in on the decision making process regarding the Athletic Director. This decision is expected to impact a large portion of the student population since many students are athletes.
Each presentation is open to the public and all students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend.
The names of each finalist are expected to be kept confidential until the search is over due to the confidentiality of the search.
An athletic director, by definition, oversees all aspects of the athletic programs of a school. This can be anything from hiring coaches for teams, ordering supplies and equipment to aid in competing, as well as fundraising. The candidate who is hired must be able to manage all aspects of the athletic program and be responsible for every coach on every team. As the athletic programs grow in Aquinas College, the need for a good, well-rounded athletic director is large.
The Athletic Director presentations will be live-streamed through Zoom for the community to view for convenience and a question-and-answer session will commence each presentation.
