Art Spotlight: Mariah Niewoonder

“Virgin Tiger Moth” by Mariah Niewoonder

The formulation of this piece was born out of a long standing affection for the details of nature and a newly developed skill I have acquired from my Graphic and Digital Design class at Aquinas College. Using a reference photo I took last summer of a Virgin Tiger Moth and Adobe Illustrator, I orchestrated an accumulation of color and shape to cast the pattern and structure of the creature of interest. I am incredibly proud of this pieceĀ as it was one of the first assignments I completed in this class and have been so grateful for growing into this new art form. I want to give credit to our professor, Danna Fuller, for being the encouraging, patient, and kind hearted soul she has been to learn from.
