The perks of attending a close-knit college have been demonstrated once again.

There has been yet another successful “Exam Cram” and final exam week at Aquinas College. The “Exam Cram,” or week before final exams, kicked off with “Cookies and Carols,” an Aquinas College Programming Board (AQPB) sponsored event featuring, well, cookies and carols.  Students were able to decorate cookies and eat their stress away while having the option to participate in a Holiday Edition Open Mic Night. This was followed by yet another AQPB event: “Treat-Yo-Self Tuesday,” which gave students the option to receive a massage, facial scrub, or a quick bite to eat. The fun didn’t stop there.

Aquinas College’s Student Senate and the Grace Hauenstein Library teamed up to keep the lights on at the library from 8-3 a.m.–a luxury that will continue through the Thursday of final exam week. This year, “Coffee-on-Wheels” (golf carts, to be exact) was an accommodation added to “Exam Cram” week by the Aquinas College Student Senators.

Indoors and much less mobile, the Aquinas College Writing Center extended their hours to offer extra assistance with any final papers, projects, or assignments.  Another tradition present during final exam week will be the “Exam Cram Breakfast,” a free breakfast buffet-style meal that will feature several Aquinas College faculty and staff favorites, such as Allie Markland, Dr. Olivarez and his wife, Mary, Abby Johnson, Brian Matzke, Gilda Gely, Dee Wagner, and Andrea Wirgau, serving pancakes and wishing students good luck on the finals that are to come.  The breakfast will take place on Monday, December 14 at 10 p.m. in the Wege cafeteria.  The meal will be free, but make sure to bring your AQ ID so you can join in on the fun.

When finals week comes to a close, most students will be headed home for the holidays, only to return next year, January 11, 2016 for the beginning of classes and the Spring 2016 semester. Upon students’ return, there is plenty to look forward to. A few Aquinas traditions such as AQ Idol, Senate’s Leadership Week, and Refresh Yourself will be taking place January 29, the week of January 17, and February 12, respectively.

Below is a complete schedule of exam times for finals week.  Have a great holiday season and see you next year!
